THE CATHOLIC WOMEN'S LEAGUE OF CANADA
Celebrating 100 years of Faith, Service and Social Justice in our Communities, our Country and the World.
ST. PATRICK’S COUNCIL, MERLIN
CWL Mission Statement: The Catholic Women’s League of Canada calls it’s members to grow in faith, and to witness to the love of God through ministry and service.
The Catholic Women’s League has a reputation of responding wherever there is a need. Save-a-Family-Plan, Right to Life Kent, Canadian Missions, Chatham-Kent Women’s Centre, Farmtown/Courage to Freedom are just a few of the charities that our council suports. We also provide support for candidates receiving the sacraments, provides visits and gifts for shut-ins and the lonely, provides support for sick and grieving parishioners and sponsor a birthday party at a local nursing home.
Here are a few of the responses of members when asked why they joined the CWL.:
“I belong to the CWL because we are women with like-minded views, who want to live our faith for God and Canada”
“I belong because it’s goals and objectives reflect what I think is important – spiritual development, recognizing the sanctity of life and human dignity of all people, and promoting Christian values.
“I appreciate that League resolutions for government reform and action, developed by League members, are presented to provincial and/or federal government personally. This dialogue is a privilege not made available to all organizations.”
“There are wonderful, gifted, thoughtful, fun loving women in the league, and I like to hang around them.”
